Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic dental remedy for oral health and detoxification. It involves you swishing a tablespoon of organic coconut or sesame oil for 10-15 minutes. I chose coconut oil because it has anti-bacterial properties, plus, I enjoy the taste.
I tried coconut oil pulling, and I admit, it was strange at first sitting there with a heaping tablespoon of solidified coconut oil in my mouth. After a few minutes, the oil melted in my mouth and I realized I should have used a little bit less because it mixed with my saliva and felt like too much liquid in my mouth. But, I kept thinking about how great my mouth will feel once all the toxins were magically removed from the coconut oil. I have to say, I have done this several times, and I don’t know about the toxins that are being removed from my mouth, but I do know, that my teeth have gotten visibly whiter. So, I will now continue this process of oil pulling! Besides, you have nothing to lose and we all know good oral health is important for overall health of the body.
