Why Diets Don’t Work ….
How many times have you taken a quick-fix “magic” weight loss pill, counted endless points, or eaten perfectly “portioned” meals to help you lose weight, only to gain it all back a short time after? If you’re like most people, the answer is…..many! The good news is, the problem isn’t you, it’s the diet; it doesn’t work.
Did you know that 90% of weight loss programs fail, but it’s still a $1 billion dollar industry? Did you ever wonder why someone is always on a “diet?” People are willing to pay thousands of dollars for programs that are based on a one size fits all idea. We are lured in by celebrities losing tons of weight and we think we can do it too, by following their plan. Reality is, we are individuals and, therefore, need an individualized plan.
Sometimes it’s necessary for you to slow down to speed up. Take a moment and try this exercise: Close your eyes and visualize coming out of your body and looking back at yourself. What do you see? What words come to mind? Are these positive or negative thoughts and feelings?
Whatever you’re feeling, it’s time to slow down, reflect, explore, and express your emotions. What you believed was a battle with food all along, may really be the result of other aspects of life, such as career, spirituality, physical activity, or relationships.
