Chocolate Cherry Smoothie

About two years ago, I started to experience knee pain because I was running practically every other day, about 3 miles a day. Determined to find my own holistic cure for my knee pain, I started researching powerful, anti-inflammatory foods. Cherries and turmeric were my foods of choice and I decided to make a delicious, yet healing smoothie that would help alleviate my knee pain. So, I combined all of these ingredients in my Nutri-bullet and made an anti-inflammatory cherry smoothie after each run. Low and behold would you believe, I have absolutely no knee pain! I truly believe that food can be the key to solving many of our health issues and I am proof of that! So if you are a runner and you have knee pain, definitely try incorporating this smoothie post-run! Besides, who doesn’t love the taste of cherries and chocolate together, it’s like dessert!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup frozen organic cherries
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp flax
  • 1 tsp sprouted chia meal
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cacao nibs
  • 1 1/2 cups almond milk

Directions:

Combine all of the above ingredients in a blender or Nutri-bullet and enjoy!

  1. I have inflamed ankles after running and severely painful. I don’t like cherries and chocolate together but maybe I can just incorporate turmeric in more of my smoothies… ;(
